Snowy Sunday Stripping

Posted by on in Massage

Work on the new premises is well underway. Building work has been completed to make my treatment room larger and my hubby and I have spent a snowy Sunday stripping wallpaper, filling holes and preparing walls for painting.

There's still a lot to do but it's starting to take shape. Check back regularly to see progress!

Olympic Inspiration

Posted by on in Massage
So the curtain has closed on the London Olympics and I think it's fair to say that it exceeded everyone's expectations in terms of spectacle, organisation and Team GB's medal haul. It has captured the imagination of the British public and lifted our spirits. Now that it's over, how do you intend to keep the Olympic spirit alive?

Olympic excitement!

Posted by on in Massage
Tomorrow the Olympic Torch Relay passes through our area and I'm really excited about seeing it in Fareham! I love this part of the build-up to the Games. Yes, the Olympics will be recorded in the annals of sports history as the "London" Olympics but the Torch Relay allows the event to be a national celebration - and quite right too since our athletes are drawn from all corners.

Marathon Recovery

Posted by on in Massage
I have never run a marathon. The Great South Run and Half Marathon distance has (so far at least) been enough of a challenge for me. But I am in awe of everyone that takes on this massive challenge. Every year, I see people pre- and post-marathon events and have learned a lot from each of them. So here are my top tips for a speedy recovery from your marathon.

The Greatest Day - Olympic Park Run

Posted by on in Massage

The journey began last Autumn when an e-mail arrived from The National Lottery inviting me to enter a ballot to win one of 5,000 places in a 5 mile run around the Olympic Park, finishing on the track. It said the event would be the first to officially cross the Olympic Finish Line. I clicked the link, filled out the entry and promptly forgot all about it.

Olympic Park Run Countdown

Posted by on in Massage

In less than a week, I will join 4999 other people for the most exciting running event I may ever have the privilege to take part in - the Olympic Park Run! The 5-mile course takes in the sites of the Olympic Park and culminates in the Athletics Stadium, on the running track, in front of 12,000 spectators. To say I'm excited is the understatement of the year.

Detoxing Inside & Out

Posted by on in Massage
As part of my New Year's Resolutions, I wanted to replace as many 'toxic' products with organic alternatives. With the press reporting in the past few weeks the link between parabens (used extensively in beauty and skincare products) and breast cancer, and revelations about leading cosmetic companies using lead in their lipsticks it seems a good time to elaborate on my own personal crusade!

New Year, New Me....

Posted by on in Massage
I haven't made any New Year's resolutions for several years now - because I never keep them. But this year I feel more motivated to make changes for the better so I thought I'd give it a go. And perhaps sharing my progress will help me stay on track and reach my goals.

So what's so different this year? Well, I have a significant birthday coming up and they tell me "life begins" so it's an added incentive for change. Plus, over the last two years I have managed to address a few minor health issues that used to get in my way (and provide an easy excuse when I couldn't be bothered).

Great South Run 2011

Posted by on in Massage

On Sunday 30th October, I joined 24,000 other runners for the Great South Run - the World's premier 10 mile road race. This year was my fourth attempt at the course but having had 6 months off through injury, I knew a personal best was unlikely.
